Since its inception CFL has donated over $125,000 to a combination of local, state and nationally known charities such as Jersey Shore University Medical Center Family HIV Program, The Center in Asbury Park and Community Health Center, and VNACJ Community Services. Who We Help
Funds raised by Cabaret for Life beyond basic operational costs are donated directly
to its chosen beneficiaries. The Board of Trustees carefully investigates potential
beneficiaries, visits the facilities and meets the directors and staff to determine the
need, viability and efficiency of each beneficiary.
Since 1996, Cabaret for Life has contributed to the following AIDS-service groups:
The Center in Asbury Park, Inc., Jersey Shore University Medical Center Family HIV
Program, the Community Health Center and VNACJ Community Services, the
Broadway House, the Angel Connection, the AIDS Resource Center (of the VNACJ),
the AIDS Resource Foundation for Children (St. Clare’s Homes), as well as Broadway
Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a New York-based service group that raises funds for AIDS
relief among the professional theatre world. CFL also has contributed to “A Time for
Me,” a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women with cancer.
John C. Rodriguez Scholarship Fund
The John C. Rodriguez Scholarship Fund, established in 2004 as a lasting tribute to
CFL friend and Hononary Trustee John, exists to support the next generation of
stage performers. An integral part of CFL for five years, John was not only a set
designer and builder but also a supremely talented musician, graphic artist and
vocalist. This annual scholarship, managed and promoted by CFL and John’s family
and friends, is awarded to at least two outstanding Monmouth County high school
seniors who are attending college for the performing arts (drama, dance and/or
musical theatre). Click on 'Scholarship" on the navigation bar for more information
and an application.
