Mission Statement
Cabaret for Life, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for service organizations that help people who are coping with life-threatening diseases, especially HIV/AIDS, through the production of musical theater. Cabaret for Life is a completely volunteer organization. While the raising of funds is our principal goal, we strive to be more than a theater company: with the support of the community, Cabaret for Life endeavors to bring talented, caring people together to help other people who are in need.

Who We Are
Cabaret for Life, Inc. was established in
September 1995 by a core group of Monmouth
and Ocean County residents who came
together to make a difference in the lives of
people threatened by AIDS and similar
debilitating illnesses. Since our inception, the
efforts and vision of the original Founders
have brought forth hundreds of volunteers
and tens of thousands of dollars in donations
to a dozen charities in New Jersey and
beyond.
During our first decade, Cabaret for Life has
dedicated ourselves to helping people
suffering with HIV/AIDS and cancer, especially
pediatric patients, and the organizations that
serve them.
CFL was incorporated with the State of New
Jersey in October 1995 and was designated
Cabaret for Life is a 501c-3
organization.Cabaret for Life is a 501c-3
organization.
In addition to presenting top-quality musical
talent to entertain our loyal patrons, we also
raise funds for various local charities, promoting
AIDS awareness in our community. The CFL
season includes three or four shows each year.
Our annual holiday show at The Mill (formerly the
Old Mill Inn) in Spring Lake Heights has become a
tradition on the Jersey Shore. Each production
is unique, costumed and staged, and dedicated
to a distinguished composer, lyricist or
director-choreographer.
In the past, our production team has cooperated
with such major Broadway and jazz artists as
Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Charles
Strouse, Stephen Schwartz, Stephen Flaherty,
Lynn Ahrens, Michael John LaChiusa, Ann
Hampton Callaway, Paris Barclay, Bill Russell and
many others. Each of these theater professionals
has donated the rights to their work to Cabaret
for Life completely free of charge.
PERFORMERS AND VOLUNTEERS
Cabaret for Life is proud to present the very best community
performers in our shows, including many professionals who donate
their time and talent. José de la Cuesta, professional New York
choreographer whose work has been seen at Hershey Park,
Carnegie Hall and various regional theaters, is our
director-choreographer in residence, having worked on tours, on
cruise lines, theme parks and other professional venues.
CFL is pleased to cooperate with the Paper Mill Playhouse, Dodger
Costumes of New York and Alan Albert Productions. Each of these
profession agencies has supported CFL by providing costumes and
props free of charge for our benefit productions.
Since 1997, CFL has collaborated with Jim Lyle of Light Scenes, Inc.
for our stage lighting. In 2004 generous grants from the Sunfield
Foundation and the Herbert Axelrod Foundation made it possible
for CFL to purchase a state-of-the-art sound system for use at all
CFL functions.
